Alex Swarbrick

Alex is an experienced consultant, facilitator, executive coach, combining 18 years in leadership development and coaching with a strong background in HR. He works with leaders at all levels, across public and private sectors and across the globe. He has a deep interest in the relational aspects of leadership, and in intercultural leadership, having run leadership development and coaching skills programmes in over 20 countries.
Alex's clients value the strong relationships he builds which grow out of care, wisdom and a pragmatic approach. He is committed to people practically applying their learning, and coachees tend to comment on his insight, compassion and thought-provoking questions.
Background
Before pursuing his career in people and organisation development, Alex was the Head of HR for The Work Foundation (formerly the Industrial Society) before which he worked in Nepal for a number of years where he was Personnel Director for an international development agency. He previously held a number of HR roles in the BBC.
Experience and expertise
The organisations and sectors Alex has worked with most, include banking and financial services, Universities and medical science research, not-for-profit organisations and government agencies.

Alex was a consultant with Roffey Park Institute for 12 years, where he was Programme Director for their Personal Effectiveness programme, and HR Business Partner programmes, and four years as Regional Director for Roffey Park Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Prior to joining Roffey Park he ran his own successful consultancy and coaching practice with assignments varying from reviewing organisations’ people management strategy and practice, to the design and facilitation of leadership development and coaching skills programmes in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
He writes regularly on HR, leadership and coaching topics, particularly related to Change and to the future of HR, with articles published in Training Journal, HR Magazine, HR Director, HR Director Asia, and, Coaching Today.

A bit more about Alex...
Alex lives in the south of England with his wife Claire and has two grown up daughters. A keen runner and walker, he loves travel, is fascinated by other cultures, has lived 10 years in different parts of Asia, is Board Chair of an INGO in Nepal, and is looking forward to the time when adventures in their old camper van, 'Edith', become possible again.
