Helena Clayton

Consultant member

A consultant of 25 years’ experience, Helena designs and runs innovative leadership development for public and private sector organisations and is a coach, thinking partner and critical friend for leaders at all levels. She is part of the Faculty for Roffey Park’s MSc in People and Organisations and runs several OD education programmes. Her style is to balance support with challenge, and compassion with clarity in service of creating insight and change.

Helena is currently researching, writing and speaking about the role love could or should play in organisations and beyond.

Background

Helena began her career in operational and strategic HR with Dennis Publishing, Aon and Touche Ross. She also spent 7 years at Roffey Park Institute, the later years as a Director, and so brings to her work a personal understanding of leadership and of creating change from the inside.

Experience and expertise

Helena is a leadership development and OD consultant. She also practices as a coach and facilitator working with individuals, teams and organisations to help them build their capability and effectiveness.

Her approach is rooted in academic depth and rigour which she balances with a deeply practical way of working always seeking to ask ‘so what?' and to make learning useful. She balances support with challenge and is known for her compassion and her clarity. She is keenly interested in how organisations and individuals can balance head, heart and spirit.

Helena works across all sectors and at all levels within organisations. Current and recent work includes: the second year of running a high potential programme for a global consulting firm, which has had far reaching impact across the business; designing a bold leadership programme in ecological leadership for a global brand; the third year of a Civil Service leadership programme for strategic thinking; and teaching and facilitating on an MSc in people and Organisational Development.

Current and past clients include: Virgin Atlantic, Post Office, Sovereign Housing, Capita, Port of London Authority and various Civil Service departments.

MSc in Leadership and Learning from Lancaster University
Post Graduate Diploma in Career Consulting
trained as a teacher of the Hoffman Process
ICF accredited coaching qualification.

Helena lives in Sussex with her husband. She’s a lover of long walks, sea swimming and yoga but equally loves nothing more than a good book or a great box set.
